My first meeting with Unit 33 – Jan 2014

Once four of us had been selected from our District to go to the Jamboree we were split up and moved into different units from around the county. The UK Contingent will be one of the largest at the Jamboree, with over 4000 Scouts and Guides from all across the UK . The 75 Units (of 36 Scouts/ Guides and 4 Leaders) which make up the UK Contingent are each from a different county or region with their own unique character.

To find out more about what a Jamboree is go to this page made by the UK international service team.

For our first meeting we had photos taken and we did a carousel of workshops along with laying a game where we all stood in a circle pulling a rope as tightly as possible whilst people tried to walk on it!

The activities included making sushi and origami – thankfully two skills which we have improved in the last year and a half. We also started decorating shopping trolleys to look like Disney’s ‘Cars’ for our trolley dash round Watford the following month.

We were given our UK contingent scarf - every member from the UK will wear one of these in Japan.
